Adam Goldenberg is one of the top business personalities around the world who started his journey to corporate success at a young age. At the age of 15, Adam established his first company, which was known as Gamers Alliance. In 1999, Intermix Media, a Myspace parent company, acquired Gamers Alliance upon citing its potential. This led to Adam to quit high school in a bid to join Intermix as its Vice President of Strategic Planning. At the age of 20, he got a promotion as the company’s Chief Operating Officer. At the time, Adam Goldenberg was the youngest Chief Operating Officer of a publicly traded company.

Adam’s Partnership and Friendship with Don Ressler

Intermix played a huge role in the friendship and partnership between Don and Adam. This happened after Don, a brand-building expert, sold to Intermix Media in 2001. Through their fast friendship, they created Intermix Media’s only profit center, Alena Media. Alena Media was an e-commerce as well as performance advertising company, which generated hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue for Intermix.

Their short-lived success took a turn for the worst when Intermix was acquired by a media conglomerate, News Corp, in 2005. The dynamic duo comprising of Adam  and Don left the new company after feeling that News Corp was ignoring Alena Media’s potential.

Intelligent Beauty

They made a decision to form their venture to explore the e-commerce and performance advertising niche. This endeavor led to the formation of Intelligent Beauty at, an e-commerce brand building entity. Through this brand building platform, they created two brands, DERMSTORE and SENSA respectively. They did this by mobilizing some former team members from Alena Media.

Later, Adam Goldenberg and Don made a move to create a personalized shopping experience through integrating cutting-edge fashion with social interaction. This endeavor led to the hiring of designers, style consultants, and the creation of an affordable member subscription model. JustFab was the outcome of their effort. Currently, JustFab is a fashion and style community, where members are provided with a selection of accessories, shoes and handbags each month at $39.95.

The Expansion of JustFab

Since its inception in 2010, JustFab has grown into a subscription e-commerce category leader with over 35 million members across the global divide. Apart from the United States, it boasts of operations in other parts of the globe such as Netherlands, Spain, France, Germany, the UK and Canada. Through its strong-willed Co-CEOs, Adam and Don, JustFab prides itself on successful brands like Fabletics, FabKids, and ShoeDazzle.

In a response to an assumption that New Zealand is a “tax haven” for foreign companies to store funds there, a lawyer named Geoffrey Cone goes through various laws that have been put in place to ensure that New Zealand is not a tax haven, and it does not deserve that title. Geoffrey Cone is a partner at Cone Marshall in Auckland, New Zealand.

First, he writes about OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) not having New Zealand on a list of countries that are a tax havens. Tax havens are countries that have little transparency that goes into foreign countries being able to invest there. As the name implies, the lack of transparency in the local laws allows for foreign investors to escape the tax laws of the country in which they are from.

This transparency of laws had a universal standard that was set back in 2002 by the OECD Model Agreement on Exchange on Information on Tax Matters, and New Zealand was an early country that was put on a good list of countries that implemented a tax arrangement that was similar to countries around the world.

Cone goes on to state that New Zealand has 39 double tax arrangements with other countries, and it also has 20 tax information exchanges with other countries as well. The tax arrangements are designed to have fluid cross-border trade that prevents tax evasion, and the 20 tax information exchanges are also designed to prevent tax avoidance.

He notes that he can see why the country would seem like a tax haven country, because it has recently been a place where foreign investors have come to conduct business, but Cone does not see it as a tax haven country. Cone states that the reason why New Zealand has such high foreign investment in its country, is due to its safe, stable nature. He feels that since New Zealand is regarded around the world for being economically sound, it just makes good business sense to conduct business there. In an uncertain economic climate that the world is in, a country like New Zealand is seen as a modern nation, that does not have the same political turmoil that aggravates the economies of foreign nations.

Labaton Sucharow, a well-established law firm that has served for more than 5 decades within the U.S. has invested in the fight against securities violations by offering support to whistleblowers. Through one of their wings, the practice established a body in 2010 that deals exclusively with SEC Whistleblower cases. They have been working with whistleblowers to help them pass their message easily and achieve the desired success in the process.

One of the achievements that Labaton Sucharow is celebrating is the recent payout of $17 million to one of their clients by the SEC. The client shared information that showed the ills that have been happening in the financial services industry and due to the nature of the case, the sanction obtained was huge and so was the reward to the whistleblower.

This payout and achievement by their client also came as an achievement to Labaton Sucharow. It shows how the body is dedicated to championing the fight against securities violations and ensuring that those who engage in practices that are not in line with the expectations of the regulations of the body are apprehended through the SEC. Labaton Sucharow first reviews the cases and advises whistleblowers so they can get deserving rewards for their cases.

More about the Securities Exchange Commission
The Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) established a program in 2010 (the SEC Whistleblower Program) whose only purpose is to pursue securities violations through help from whistleblowers. The body came into existed following a convention that was held by the federal government in a bid to resolve the cases of securities violations that went unreported due to lack of a proper platform to pursue the same.

There are several provisions that came with the SEC Whistleblower Program that have motivated more whistleblowers to come out with information. Such include the existence of protections and the ability to report anonymously, which are features that did not exist before 2010. The reward system is also fair and motivates whistleblowers to share information about violations in different industries.

Using a Gooee smart lighting system just because it’s cool and modern is not the number one reason to use smart lighting, but it’s still close. Going smart with lighting has many benefits other than having the coolest house on the block. Now, if you’re a little out of touch and don’t know what smart lighting is or what it’s all about, then the following information will bring you up to speed.

Smart lighting revealed
Smart lighting isn’t much different than many other products that have gone smart. Basically, a smart lighting system controls the lights in a building, home, or outdoor area automatically and under certain conditions so that the manual flicking of a switch is no longer necessary. Smart lighting systems can vary in complexity and control and of course in price as well. There are two basic types of smart lights: non-sensor integrated and sensor integrated.

Sensor integrated smart lights- These smart lights have sensors that enable them to recognize people and daylight, movement, and light from other sources. The lights automatically send information to the smart lighting network, which sets specific parameters for each light then adjusts the light accordingly. Sensor-integrated lights can still be controlled manually.

Non-sensor integrated smart lights- These lights don’t have sensors built into them but still fall into the class of smart lights because they can be programmed.

One major benefit that all Gooee smart lighting systems have in common is that they can lower energy bills. Also, smart lights can be controlled remotely from a tablet or smartphone which can make your home safer while you’re away on vacations or when you come home after dark.

Flavio Maluf is the sustainability materials entrepreneur in South America with a high degree in business finance and administration. He claims it is easy to see that the UK’s recent exit from the European Union (EU), that the media called Brexit, will lead to many economic problems in markets throughout the world.

He sees signs that the worlds main powers will be hitting some hard times, especially if Brexit leads to serious problems with the remaining EU members.

Maluf points out that while the UK vote to leave the EU seems to be primarily about the huge support the UK was paying into the EU, it is equally about a revival of tax tariffs. The UK re-instituted those tariffs immediately after Brexit. Maluf says this will lead to dramatic destabilization of the Union, possibly leading to a complete failure of the EU. It matters not that the problems came from outside the EU, in the form of the refugee crisis with the Syrians.

The world recession Flavio Maluf predicts will come from a fall in all markets after the European countries’ markets have a currency failure. He predicts it will become similar to the UK’s currency failure in 1985. However, he says it will not affect his home country of Brazil, as the country does less than two percent of their exports business with the UK. He does not expect any serious problems for South America, in general, from the vote to exit the EU.

Flavio Maluf started Eucatex as a sustainable materials manufacturer well before it was en vogue, two decades ago. The product materials and construction products Eucatex produces are Eco-friendly and in demand more than ever, not that global warming is happening on a frequent basis. Maluf has an MBA from New York University. It helps that few Syrian refugees have been sent to Brazil.
