The founder and Chief Executive of popular online dating app Bumble, Whitney Wolfe, has built a career from helping others find their ‘special someone.’ It is only fair, then, that she was rewarded with a romantic wedding day straight out of a fairy tale. The tech guru got married to Texas oil heir Michael Herd in a beautiful ceremony held at the Villa Treville on Italy’s Amalfi coast.
The couple made a play on the groom’s surname when coming up with the hashtag for the event, #homeiswheretheherdis. The gorgeous destination wedding was eye-catching, from the bride’s show-stopping Oscar De La Renta wedding gown to the romantic venue. The venue offered guests an open view of the pristine Italian coast. The whole ceremony was swoon-inducing.
Reception and Dinner
After the nuptials were dispensed with, the bride slipped into a silky, cream-colored evening dress that was the talk of everyone who attended the wedding dinner full of friends, drinks and good food. The lemon trees that covered the reception venue perfectly complimented the lemon accents used for the menus and dinner tables. The wedding cake was a massive, single tier affair that was topped off with strawberries and a mix of other fruits.
Bumble is an online dating platform where, after two users swipe right on each other’s profiles, the woman has to make the first move. Since its launch in 2015, the app has enjoyed a period of explosive growth, having more than 12 million users, which is a remarkable figure given that it only had a million users after its foundation. The app’s users are young and highly educated and under 35 years of age. Over 91 percent of bumble users under the age of 22 have a college education. The company recently launched Bomble BFF and Bumble Bizz after realizing certain limitations of the application and wanting it to be an all-encompassing part of its users’ lifestyles.
About Bumble BFF and Bumble Bizz
Many Bumble users who were hooked through the app requested the ability to continue using the application even after they entered into a relationship. Many of them had found friends through the platform by entering the same gender in its ‘show me’ settings and many wanted to find people to hang out with when on vacation or visiting a new city. That made it necessary for Bumble to add BFF.
Bumble Bizz is a new feature of the app that changes the way its users and brands interact and network by introducing new career opportunities and allowing users to find mentors. It was launched in the Fall. With each swipe, a Bumble Bizz user gets a unique chance to make an empowered career move and expand their network of business contacts.
